¿Por qué hay pocas mujeres caricaturistas?

Por la misma razón que hay pocas mujeres matemáticas, astronautas o bomberas, porque no nos ha dado tiempo de ocupar también esos espacios. Hace años, no existían mujeres maestras, o médicas, o futbolistas y miren ahora, así que esperen y vean, chicas.En el pasado los regalos que recibíamos las niñas no ayudaban a que fuéramos creativas: cocinitas, jueguitos de tazas… ¿cuántas maneras hay de servir un té?... los chicos por su parte recibían Legos, Meccanos y pelotas, estoy convencida que las pelotas ante todo ejercitan el cerebro, en cambio, las Barbies, las ropitas de la Barbie, y todo lo relacionado con esta muñeca, lo adormecen. Quien diría, el futuro de las mujeres caricaturistas depende de lo que compremos hoy en las jugueterías.

Why are there so few women cartoonists?

Years ago, there were not women teachers, medical doctors or football players, and look how it is now. So just wait and see, girls.In the past, the toys that were given to the girls did not help for us to be creative: little kitchens, irons, tea sets… how many different ways there are for serving tea? On the contrary, boys got Legos, Meccanos and balls. I am convinced that balls mostly exercise the brain, while Barbies, Barbie’s clothes and everything related with it,numb the imagination. Who would guess, the fate of women’s cartoonists depends on what we buy in toys stores.
